To say my family is a little bit nuts when it comes to NASA, you wouldn't be wrong. :) My first and favorite students (what I call my three children), love to hear about their mom's adventures at NASA. It was kind of neat when mom got to go to NASA last summer for a whole week to learn how to be a better teacher (PSTI program), but hearing that their mom is going to ride in the vomit comet?!? . . . well, a little jealousy arose. :)
Sorry kids & husband--it's ME who gets to experience microgravity!! I'll take pictures for you! :)
I am so excited about the opportunity I have been given, and hopefully I won't get sick. And then, I'll be able to bring so many memories and experiences back to my classroom at Gregory-Portland Intermediate School! :) & to my family!
NASA's official name for the vomit comet is the Weightless Wonder. Yes, that does sound a little better, but one of the first questions I had to ask after being chosen was . . . how many people really do get sick aboard the airplane?
This is what I got:
If three people went aboard the Weightless Wonder, one would get "violently" sick, one would just be sick, and the third would be ok . . . hmmmmm, not good odds. Luckily, NASA gives participants medicine to help with the queasy stomachs, and your chances of good health improve to 9 out of 10.
What do you think?! Will I vomit on the vomit comet? Answer the quiz on the right of my blog--and we'll see what happens in July . . . .
